You will need your Napier Public Libraries card number to access the databases below. Just enter the letters and numbers as depicted on your card. For access to the Oxford Reference Library please prefix NAP to your barcode when logging in. If you are not a member, click here for more information on how to become one.

Funding Information Service

FundView is New Zealand's primary source of information about funding for voluntary organisations and contains over 600 different funding schemes. Simply click on the FundView logo above, and enter your library card number and select "FundView" to find funding opportunities for you or your organisation.

BreakOut is New Zealand's primary source of funding information for students, researchers, sports people, artists and those wanting professional development. BreakOut holds details of over 2200 funding schemes. Simply click on the BreakOut logo above, and enter your library card number and select "BreakOut" to find funding opportunities for you or your organisation.

World Book Online

Since 1917, World Book, Inc., has set the standard for providing accuracy, objectivity, and reliability in research materials for both children and adults. Based in Chicago, Illinois, World Book is an industry leader in the production of award-winning encyclopaedias, reference sources, and digital products for the home and schools.

World Book Online can be accessed in the Napier and Taradale libraries. Please contact the closest branch for more information.

About Database

CommunityINFO Database

If you are looking for a community, voluntary, social service or leisure group, key contact for a group, list of related groups or a community programme, then the new community database called 'CommunityINFO Database' is a great place to start! This database is a searchable collection of contact and descriptive details about organisations/clubs in the Napier region and those who have Hawke's Bay in their name. It is a great way to find out what organisations/clubs are available and how to contact them.

This exciting collection provides online, same-day access to more than 500 newspapers from around the world. Newspapers from over 70 countries and in 37 different languages are freely available on this exceptional database. All papers are provided complete and in colour, displayed in their original format and layout (including images and advertisements). Articles can be printed out or you can email them to yourself to read at your leisure.

PressDisplay is only accessible in the Napier and Taradale Public Libraries. PressDisplay is free for library members

With more than 5 billion names from over 4,000 collections Ancestry Library Edition contains the UK and Ireland Census Collection, England and Wales Civil Registration Index, Immigration Collections and US Federal Census Collection data.

Ancestry Library Edition is available at both Napier and Taradale Libraries. Please ask at the Reference Desk (1st Floor, Napier Public Library) for a demonstration.

N.B. Access to this database is for members of the Taradale and Napier Public Libraries only. Due to licensing restrictions this database is only available on the library computers.

Oxford Reference Online: Premium Collection combines rich and scholarly resources offered by acclaimed titles in the Oxford Companions series with authoritative, quick-reference coverage of the full subject spectrum. It also offers excellent functionality, and a wide range of additional material such as maps, illustrations, and timelines.

Access EBSCO Host Research Databases

EBSCOhost reference databases have been designed for use in public libraries and are made available via the user-friendly search system, EBSCOhost.
