Taradale Library Extension is About to Start!!!
"The plan of the eagerly awaited library upgrade for Taradale has exceeded our original expectations and we believe the design will make the most of both the beautiful park location, and the redeveloped Library." says Sheryl Reed, Manager, Napier Libraries. An upgrade of the Taradale Library has been evolving over several years, with passionate support from the Taradale community, represented by the Taradale Friends of the Library, who put a submission to Napier City Council for the 2003/2004 Annual plan, requesting that the extension of the Taradale Library be put back into the 10-Year Capital Plan. This was further researched and documented by Leslie Clague, the former Library Manager, in her ‘Review of Library Services’ 2005; and followed up by the OCTA Associates Limited Service Delivery Study 2007. It is also included the OCTA report recommendations as adopted by Napier City Council last August. Taradale’s extension is one of a number of redevelopment projects in which the Libraries are currently involved. BECAUSE THE EXTENSION IS SO EXTENSIVE IT REQUIRES THE LIBRARY TO BE CLOSED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. Services provided from the time of closure will be:
